SURREY, BC — Following today’s announcement by Imagine Surrey to bid for the Commonwealth Games and build a cricket and rugby stadium in the city, avid rugby fan Dr. Andrew Weaver endorsed Mike Starchuk’s ambitious plans for what will soon be British Columbia’s largest city. Dr. Weaver’s full endorsement statement follows:

I’m a scientist, so I look at the evidence, and in Surrey it’s hard to miss: for decades the same legacy parties have taken turns running City Hall, and residents have paid for it in longer commutes, higher costs, and services that never caught up with the growth. Mike Starchuk spent his career putting out fires, and now he wants to put out the one at City Hall. He’s served Surrey on council and in the legislature, he cares about results rather than credit, and he’s built a team that looks like the Surrey of today. I’ve never cared much for party labels. I care about competence and a plan, and Mike and the Imagine Surrey team have both. On October 17, vote for Mike Starchuk and the Imagine Surrey team.
