Annis Faces Lawsuit Following Dog Attack

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SURREY, BC — In January, Linda Annis told another dog owner to step up and do the right thing. Four months later her own dog bit a man badly enough to need stitches. She didn’t follow her own advice. Now, she is being sued.

She knew that the man her dog attacked had to get stitched up. She called it a nip anyway. Just watch the video: her dog lunges a good distance at her neighbour and nobody stops it. Neither of her dogs was even licensed. She excused it on the spot and tried to sweep it under the rug.

This week she said there’s no excuse for a dog bite. She’s right. University of Manitoba ethics professor Arthur Schafer told Global News her account was “truly misleading” and questioned Annis’ “honesty, probity, and character.”

She calls herself a responsible dog owner. Responsible dog owners license their dogs, control their dogs, and tell the truth when their dog bites someone. Linda Annis downplayed what her dog did and covered up the truth to avoid the backlash. Now it has caught up with her. Surrey deserves a mayor who holds themselves to a higher level of accountability and integrity. Linda Annis has shown she’ll do neither.

It’s clear that Linda Annis brings the same chaos that Surrey has been accustomed to under Doug McCallum and Brenda Locke.
